It’s hard to believe the 4th of July is this weekend! Usually, I’d be heading somewhere fun for the holiday, but this year we’re taking things a bit slower. We’ll be hanging at home here in Houston. Michael has Friday off so it’ll be nice to have a long weekend to spend together.

It was funny (but not really) looking back on my May recap where I chatted about Houston re-opening and being both excited and nervous. Mainly nervous to see what the effects of widespread reopening would mean for the resurgence of Covid. And here we are, a month later and Texas is leading the pack in highest number of Covid cases in the U.S. We’ve been staying put at home for the most part. We’re only really venturing out the the grocery store, to pick up take out, and to the golf course.

It’s hard to know how to proceed without a vaccine in place yet even when things are opening up. It seems like we’re going to be in this never ending cycle until there’s a vaccine. I keep reminding myself that everyone is doing their best to navigate this new normal. I’m trying to only worry about the things I can control.

On a lighter note, let’s jump into the June recap and chat about a few lighter topics … the blog posts you loved, the items you clicked on the most, and more! If you’re interested in past Monthly Recaps, you can check them out here!

For the first time in … years?! Michael and I didn’t go anywhere in June! But we did make a quick trip to Galveston to spend a couple of days with friends over the last weekend in May. Galveston is about an hour drive from Houston – super close! It was really nice to get away, see friends, and hang by the water for a couple of days.

Wellness this Month

It’s been funny to look back at my Beautycounter business over the past few months. It’s a stream of income that has actually increased since the start of quarantine. The funny part – everyone has purchased almost exclusively skincare, no makeup products. I suppose quarantine is the perfect time to practice a little self care!

I shared my morning and nighttime skincare routines on IG Stories recently. In the morning, I’m loving these 4 products (in order of application): Vitamin C Serum, Eye Cream, Antioxidant Soft Cream Moisturizer, and Tinted Matte SPF (all clean products!)

My nighttime routine consists of these 2 products every night + 2 additional products sprinkled throughout the week. Everyday products: Cleansing Balm (for removing all makeup and cleansing my face) and Brightening Facial Oil. I also sometimes apply this moisturizer over the oil if I’m needing extra hydration. I’ve been using my Gua Sha stone at night time too after applying my Facial Oil. It’s the perfect way to wind down before bedtime.

A couple nights a week I apply this Overnight Resurfacing Peel (I just started testing this peel too – but I’ve only used it a couple of times so far). And on Sundays + any other days I feel like my skin needs a detox, I use my favorite charcoal mask (full review here)!

My wellness practices over the past few months have also included sticking with a daily workout routine. Michael and I have been doing at-home workouts in our empty dining room (knew that room would come in handy at some point!). I shared an entire post on our workouts and at home workout gear – My At Home Workouts & At Home Workout Gear.

We’ve mostly been doing free online Orange Theory classes and YogaWorks yoga classes.

We’ve also been going on daily walks, and on the weekends, we’ve been going for longer walks and spending as much time as possible outside.
